Baseball Recap: Long Beach Poly Takes a Loss

If Long Beach Poly was riding high fresh off their 10-1 takedown of Jordan on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jackrabbits fell just short of the Norwalk Lancers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.

Malakai Pruitt was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

On the hitting side, Tate Hammond made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs while going 3-for-3.

Long Beach Poly's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Norwalk, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7.

Looking ahead, Long Beach Poly will venture away from home to square off against Lakewood at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Norwalk, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 13-1 win against Dominguez on the 17th.
