Softball Recap: Auburn Riverside Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Montesano, Auburn Riverside was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They never let the Auburn Trojans get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. The Ravens haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Danica Butler made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Ashley Langford was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sophie Opsahl, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Auburn Riverside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Auburn only posted an OBP of .118.

Auburn Riverside pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Auburn, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Auburn Riverside will head out to take on Kennedy Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Auburn Riverside's pitchers better be ready for this one: Kennedy Catholic has averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Auburn, they are taking a road trip to challenge Mt. Rainier at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
