Baseball Recap: Whiteoak's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Whiteoak dropped their record down to 4-4 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Manchester Greyhounds by a score of 1-0. The shutout was out of character for the Wildcats seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

As for Manchester, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.

For Manchester's part, Luke Applegate made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Applegate has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Applegate wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Traevyn Hilderbrand, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Looking ahead, Whiteoak will square off against Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Manchester, they will head out on the road to square off against Peebles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Greyhounds are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
