Baseball Game Preview: West Potomac Wolverines vs. Woodson Cavaliers

The West Potomac Wolverines will head out to square off against the Woodson Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodson took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on West Potomac, who comes in off a win.

While West Potomac's victory against South County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. West Potomac sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over South County on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolverines have posted since May 2, 2024.

Bennett Winkelfoos looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, West Potomac saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeremy Focht, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Woodson lost 16-5 to Westfield on Saturday. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Woodson now has a losing record of 1-2. As for West Potomac, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything went West Potomac's way against Woodson in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as West Potomac made off with a 7-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Potomac since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
