Softball Recap: Hilliard Darby Triumphs

Hilliard Darby won the last time they faced Hayes and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Panthers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pacers, sneaking past 6-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Marley Grigsby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Taylor Cahill was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Kaydence Speelman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Hilliard Darby's win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Hayes, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hilliard Darby will square off against Hilliard Bradley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Hayes, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Jefferson at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
