Recap: Gillespie Miners vs. Nokomis Redskins
The Gillespie Miners won the last time they faced the Nokomis Redskins, and things went their way on Friday too. Gillespie strolled past Nokomis with points to spare, taking the game 40-22.
Despite the defeat, Nokomis saw an underclassman step up: Kinley Stolte scored five points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her.
Gillespie is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Nokomis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gillespie will take on Litchfield at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Litchfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 604th, while Gillespie is ranked 159th). As for Nokomis, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lincolnwood at 10:00 a.m.
