Volleyball Recap: Riverview Sarasota Has No Trouble Against Lakewood Ranch

Riverview Sarasota not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since August 21st (when they won 3-0). They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in August.

While Riverview Sarasota won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-16, 25-22.

Lyla Bailey paced Riverview Sarasota's offense, picking up 18 kills. Bailey got some help from Natalia Leguizamon and her 19 assists. Lola Hinrichs controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Despite the loss, Lakewood Ranch still got an impressive performance from Mariana Alvarez, who had 17 digs and two assists. Alvarez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 17 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

The win got Riverview Sarasota back to even at 7-7. As for Lakewood Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.

Coincidentally, Riverview Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch will both be playing Sarasota the next time they take the court. The Mustangs will head out to face the Sailors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Rams will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
