Basketball Recap: Plainfield Picks Up 11th Straight Win at Home

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Plainfield's strategy against Avon on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Quakers blew the Orioles out of the water with a 63-33 final score. The Quakers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 30 points or more this season.

Plainfield was led to victory by Hannah Menser and Abrielle Dugan. Menser posted 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Dugan had 13 points and five steals. That's the most steals Dugan has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Moriah Armstrong, who put up ten points and seven boards.

Plainfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Avon's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Erika Larson, who scored six points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Saniyah Davenport, who earned 12 points and three steals.

Plainfield's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.1 points over those games. As for Avon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Plainfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-45 victory against Whiteland on the 5th. As for Avon, they have also already played their next game, a 70-41 win against Richmond on the 9th.
