Volleyball Game Preview: Cranston East Thunderbolts vs. Classical Purple

The Cranston East Thunderbolts will head out to square off against the Classical Purple at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Cranston East is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Cranston West, who was ranked 19th at the time (Cranston East was ranked fourth). The Thunderbolts blew past the Falcons 3-0 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Classical entered their tilt with Central on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Knights.

Classical's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. As for Cranston East, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Everything went Cranston East's way against Classical in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Cranston East made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderbolts since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
