Softball Game Preview: Kilgore Bulldogs vs. Gilmer Buckeyes

Kilgore hasn't had much luck against Gilmer recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Buckeyes at 6:30 p.m. Kilgore has given up an average of 13.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Kilgore is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 19-1 to Henderson.

Meanwhile, Gilmer got themselves on the board against Pine Tree on Tuesday, but Pine Tree never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Pirates. The result was nothing new for the Buckeyes, who have now won 14 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Gilmer has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Kilgore, their loss dropped their record down to 5-18.

Kilgore suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to Gilmer when the teams last played back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
