Basketball Game Preview: Wheaton Academy Warriors vs. Rockford Auburn Knights

The Wheaton Academy Warriors will be taking part in a tournament against the Rockford Auburn Knights at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Wheaton Academy is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Benet Academy just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Redwings, falling 64-39. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-17.

Meanwhile, Rockford Auburn had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They breezed by the Blue Thunder to the tune of 61-27. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Blue Thunder are ranked 380th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rockford Auburn's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Wheaton Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.
