Basketball Recap: Norton Piles Up the Points Against Hill City

Norton won the last time they faced Hill City and things went their way on Monday too. The Norton Bluejays really took it to the Hill City Ringnecks for the full four quarters, racking up a 46-16 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-7.

Norton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kcanna Keiswetter out in front who posted ten points along with five boards and four steals. That's the most steals Keiswetter has posted since back in January of 2024. Hallie Brooks was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Norton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Hill City saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jenna Berland scored five points and five boards. Berland has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Eva Hart also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Norton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.4 points over those games. As for Hill City, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Norton has already played their next contest, a 28-26 win against Decatur Community on the 11th. As for Hill City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 34-19 defeat against Golden Plains on the 11th.
