Softball Recap: Largo Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Largo had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Tarpon Springs Spongers a 16-0 shutout. The Packers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Miranda Rollins was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Elle Fleck was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Largo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Largo pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Tarpon Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Largo will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Dunedin at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. After both having extra time off, Tarpon Springs and Gulf will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 7:00 p.m. on March 24th. Tarpon Springs has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
