Baseball Game Preview: Lake City Timberwolves vs. Lewiston Bengals

Lake City is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lewiston Bengals at 2:00 p.m. Lewiston took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lake City, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Lake City narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Richland 9-8.

The team relied heavily on Travis Usdrowski, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kasen Noffke, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Lewiston was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They fell just short of Skyview by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bengals have suffered since May 9, 2024.

Jayden Estlund was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits.

At the plate, Lewiston saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brighton Schumacher, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Ty Collins also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

The win got Lake City back to even at 1-1. As for Lewiston, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Lake City couldn't quite finish off Lewiston in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can Lake City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
