Soccer Game Preview: Rogers vs. Puyallup

Rogers hasn't had much luck against Puyallup recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rams will venture away from home to challenge the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Rogers barely beat South Kitsap the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over Wolves on Thursday. Considering Rogers' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Puyallup came tearing into Saturday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. Considering Puyallup have won ten games by more than two goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Puyallup pushed their record up to 13-1-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Rogers, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-11-1.

Rogers might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Puyallup in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
