Football Game Preview: Sparks Railroaders vs. Dayton Dust Devils

Sparks has gone a perfect 4-0 against Dayton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Railroaders will head out on the road to square off against the Dust Devils at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Sparks and four for Dayton.

Last Friday, Sparks was beaten by Lowry 41-6.

Dayton might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 42-6 to Truckee, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Dust Devils came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 55th in Nevada, while the Wolverines are ranked 209th in California).

Sparks will have to contain Duke Evans as he made an impact in Dayton's last game. He rushed for 202 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Evans was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards.

Dayton's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Sparks, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything went Sparks' way against Dayton in their previous meeting back in September of 2018, as Sparks made off with a 41-15 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Railroaders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
