Basketball Recap: Tj Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Purdue Polytechnic over Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory

Purdue Polytechnic came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 61-35 to the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves. If the Techies were looking for revenge after losing 79-44 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Purdue Polytechnic's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tj Williams, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Damion Green, who had seven points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Nicholas Sobek was his usual excellent self, going 7-for-12 to rack up 16 points and five rebounds for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory. Sobek continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Manny Smith also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Purdue Polytechnic has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Purdue Polytechnic will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Indianapolis Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on February 27th. Purdue Polytechnic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-49 loss against Zionsville on the 18th.
