Western Albemarle and Albemarle are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Warriors will host the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Western Albemarle's defense has only allowed 13 points per game this season, so Albemarle's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Western Albemarle is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Goochland, posting a 50-7 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five contests by 32 points or more so far this season.

Western Albemarle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tiege Sewell led the charge by throwing for 169 yards and four TDs while completing 81.2% of his passes, and also rushing for 44 yards. The Warriors' leading receiver Parker Brown was Sewell's top target yet again, picking up 74 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Western Albemarle didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jonah Stewart and Wyatt Carter.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Albemarle's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by Louisa County 65-14. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Lions are ranked 39th).

The win made it two in a row for Western Albemarle and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.0 points over those games. As for Albemarle, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-4.

Western Albemarle couldn't quite get it done against Albemarle in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 as they fell 27-20. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
