Softball Recap: Ramona Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Ramona waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the La Sierra Eagles as they made off with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Rams have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaytlin Stephens was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Mia Guzman was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Chavez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Ramona kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Ramona's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for La Sierra, they moved to 5-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Ramona will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
