Volleyball Recap: Salem Witches vs. Pioneer Charter School of Science II Pirates
Salem was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Pioneer Charter School of Science II Pirates. The Witches were not able to make up for their defeat to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.
The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-6, 25-14.
Pioneer Charter School of Science II's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Corpuz, who had eight aces. Those eight aces gave Corpuz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Guilherme Moleiro, who had 19 assists and three aces.
Salem's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Pioneer Charter School of Science II, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Salem and Lynn Vo-Tech, after both having extra time off, will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:30 p.m. on the 27th. As for Pioneer Charter School of Science II, they will take on Georgetown at 4:30 p.m. on the 27th.
