While Rhea County put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Walker Valley. The Golden Eagles put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 10-0 win. This was a revenge game for the Golden Eagles: when they faced off against the Mustangs last Wednesday, they had to take a 6-3 defeat.

The team relied heavily on Casen Kinney, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jax Schmitt, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Rhea County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Rhea County's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-10. As for Walker Valley, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-9.

Coming up, Rhea County will look to defend their home field on Friday against Silverdale Academy at 7:30 p.m. The Seahawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Golden Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Walker Valley, they will head out to take on Hixson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
