Basketball Recap: Potomac School Wins High-Profile Match Against Georgetown Visitation Prep

Potomac School is ranked highly in their home state and on Thursday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Georgetown Visitation Prep. The Potomac School Panthers came out on top against the Georgetown Visitation Prep Cubs by a score of 65-57. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Cubs: they've now won four in a row.

Leading Potomac School to victory were Catherine Letendre and Sabrina Anderson. Letendre almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 13 boards, and nine assists, while Anderson went 10 of 17 on her way to 27 points and seven rebounds. The game was Anderson's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Margit Crittenberger, who posted ten points and six boards.

Potomac School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Georgetown Visitation Prep only pulled down four offensive boards.

Georgetown Visitation Prep's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alyssa Fitzgerald, who scored 12 points. Charlotte West was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Potomac School's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-8. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.8 points. As for Georgetown Visitation Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Potomac School will venture away from home to challenge Maret at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Potomac School is facing Maret at the right time seeing as Maret is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Georgetown Visitation Prep, they are taking a road trip to take on Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Georgetown Visitation Prep's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
