Basketball Recap: Red Cloud Piles Up the Points Against Elba

Red Cloud came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Elba Bluejays 59-10. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-7.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Red Cloud to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gage Ely, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points in addition to six assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lukas Armstrong, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Ely wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Red Cloud was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elba only posted two assists.

Red Cloud's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Elba, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red Cloud will venture away from home to take on Blue Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Elba, it'll be Battle of the Birds when the Elba Bluejays duke it out with the Nebraska Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Elba is facing Nebraska Christian at the right time seeing as Nebraska Christian is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
