Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Conotton Valley

Conotton Valley extended their postseason success on Saturday against Strasburg-Franklin. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won 17 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Maddison Kelley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Ava Williams was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April. Brooklyn Kelley was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Conotton Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win was the third in a row for Conotton Valley, bringing their record up to 25-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Strasburg-Franklin, they moved to 18-9 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Conotton Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Meadowbrook at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rockets 2.4, the Colts 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Strasburg-Franklin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
