The Westover Patriots''s game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They breezed by Shaw on the road to the tune of 38-10. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Westover's 12-point performance the contest before.
Westover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keyon Thomas led the charge by punching in two rushing scores, while also throwing for 127 yards and a touchdown. Kamone Smooth and his 88 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Westover's victory.
Westover's victory bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Shaw, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Westover will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on LaGrange at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. LaGrange will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Shaw will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Starr's Mill at 5:00 p.m. on November 11th. Starr's Mill presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Shaw in Georgia (Starr's Mill is ranked 101st, while Shaw is ranked 310th).
