Volleyball Recap: Olpe Comes Up Short

Olpe lost against Marais des Cygnes Valley on September 11th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Eagles fell 2-0 to the Trojans.

Olpe was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Marais des Cygnes Valley work for it, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 28-26.

Lilly Skalsky paced Olpe's offense, picking up seven kills. Skalsky got some help from Kayla Steinke and her 12 assists. Skalsky was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Olpe's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 16-11. As for Marais des Cygnes Valley, they pushed their record up to 22-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Olpe will square off against Northern Heights on Tuesday. As for Marais des Cygnes Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Waverly on the 30th.
