Softball Recap: Old Forge Drops Season-High Score on Honesdale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Old Forge). They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Honesdale Hornets on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won six in a row.

Old Forge got a massive performance out of Joselyn DeStefano, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. What's more, DeStefano posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Arnold, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Old Forge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Old Forge's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Honesdale, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Looking ahead, Old Forge will square off against Wyoming Area at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Honesdale, they will challenge Western Wayne at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.64 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
