Basketball Recap: Langtree Charter Academy Takes a Loss

Langtree Charter Academy lost against Lincoln Charter back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Langtree Charter Academy Lions received a blow as they fell 88-72 to the Lincoln Charter Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 437th, while the Eagles are ranked 94th).

Despite the loss, Langtree Charter Academy still got an impressive performance from Martynas Petrauskas, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Petrauskas a new career-high in points. Jerel Brawley was another key player, putting up 14 points and six assists.

Leading Lincoln Charter to victory were Mckennon Showers and David Reed IV. Showers went 7-for-9 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and five assists, while Reed IV dropped a double-double with 27 points and 14 rebounds. The game was Reed IV's third in a row with at least 27 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Krishtan Flowers, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 15 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Langtree Charter Academy and nudges their season record down to 7-18. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points over those games. As for Lincoln Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Langtree Charter Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lincoln Charter, they and Pine Lake Prep will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. One thing working in Lincoln Charter's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.
