Maryvale wins going away against Carl Hayden Community

Recap: Maryvale Panthers vs. Carl Hayden Community Falcons

The Maryvale Panthers had to endure a 12-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victor by a 45-22 margin over Carl Hayden Community. Maryvale's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Maryvale had a senior duo take command as Dalia Valdez dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds and Valerie A paniagua chavez scored eight points along with six rebounds and five steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Valdez has scored at least 25% of Maryvale's points. Taylorrae Martinez was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and five assists.

Maryvale's victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-9. As for Carl Hayden Community, they bumped their record down to 0-6-2 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Maryvale won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Coronado at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Coronado comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Carl Hayden Community will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Maricopa at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
