Softball Recap: Valley Central Has No Trouble Against Monticello

Valley Central never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Monticello Panthers with a sharp 18-0 victory. That looming 18-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.

Kori Gesiselhart made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Hinspeter was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrianna Ferraro, who went 3-for-4 with four runs.

Valley Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .532. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monticello only posted an OBP of .100.

Valley Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Monticello, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Valley Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 14-2 victory against Washingtonville on the 21st. Monticello does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
