Wakefield took  a  three-set  loss the last time they faced off against Millbrook, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolverines won by a  set and slipped past the Wildcats  3-2. This was payback for the Wolverines, who suffered  a  3-0  defeat the last time these two teams met.
 The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Wakefield who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 20-25, 25-23, 25-27,  15-10.
 Lila Piburn paced Wakefield's offense, picking up nine kills. Piburn really made an impact as  she also led the team in assists with 13.  Ella Murphy and  Skylar Wainio kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with four aces apiece.
Wakefield's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Millbrook, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record  this season.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Wakefield is set to  take on  their familiar foe Athens Drive  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Millbrook will  face off against  rival Corinth Holders  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
