Softball Recap: Mechanicsburg Finds Home Field Redemption Against Northeastern

There's no place like home for Mechanicsburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against the Northeastern Jets by a score of 7-3 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Indians: when they faced off against the Jets on Monday, they had to take a 4-2 defeat.

Mylee DeLong spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Avery McDowell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Bella Batkiewicz, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Mechanicsburg's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Northeastern, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Mechanicsburg wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-2 victory against West Liberty-Salem on the 21st. As for Northeastern, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Southeastern Local on the 16th.
