Mt. Vernon had won ten straight games and Averee Swillum did her part to make it 11 on Monday. The Mountaineers came out on top against the Carthage Tigers by a score of 3-1 for which the team can thank Swillum, who had 32 digs and four assists. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 10.5 digs per game.

Mt. Vernon was especially dominant in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 17-25, 25-22, 25-11.

Despite the defeat, Carthage had strong showings from Zoe Williams, who had ten digs and one assist, and Ada Roughton, who had 16 digs and two assists.

Mt. Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 20-6-2. As for Carthage, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14-1 record this season.

Mt. Vernon has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Seneca on the 14th. As for Carthage, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Lebanon on the 14th.
