University is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will venture away from home to challenge the Pacifica Mariners at 7:00 p.m. University will be strutting in after a victory while Pacifica will be coming in after a loss.
University took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 34-7 win over Glenn. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Trojans had established a 21-point advantage.

A big part of University's victory came down to the chemistry between Dylan Elmer and his top target Cruz McMullens. Elmer threw for 341 yards and three TDs while picking up 14.8 yards per attempt while McMullens picked up 216 receiving yards and one score. Those 216 receiving yards gave McMullens a new career-high. Deandre Miller was in the mix too, providing University with one touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to University's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Pierce Fournier, Kurtis Nivens, and Diego Sosa, who each picked up one sack apiece. University received some extra help from Miller, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 14-14 at halftime, Pacifica was not quite Aliso Niguel's equal in the second half last Friday. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 24-21. The Mariners haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
University will have to keep a close watch on Eli Sandoval and James Anema, a pair of players who had a big impact on Pacifica's prior game. Sandoval picked up 93 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while Anema threw for 219 yards and three TDs.
University's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Pacifica, they now also have a losing record of 2-3.
University was dealt a bruising 42-0 defeat at the hands of Pacifica when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Trojans, Noah Lewis (who rushed for 42 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 94 yards and two TDs) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
