Baseball Recap: Poston Butte Wins Going Away Against Combs

Poston Butte won the last time they faced Combs and things went their way on Thursday too. Poston Butte was the clear victor by a 12-3 margin over Combs. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Broncos.

Damian Serrano made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-6. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Cordd Baker was a standout: he scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Brewer, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Poston Butte was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Poston Butte's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Combs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6-1 record this season.

As for Combs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crismon at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
