Softball Game Preview: Attica Red Ramblers vs. Covington Trojans

The Attica Red Ramblers will challenge the Covington Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Attica has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 4th.

Attica lost 23-5 to Riverton Parke on Friday.

Mallory Crosby made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bailey Watkins, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Covington beat North Vermillion 10-6 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won five in a row.

Ashlyn Alexander was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Taylor Martin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Covington's win bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Attica, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.

Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Attica has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Covington struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Attica suffered a grim 22-3 defeat to Covington in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Red Ramblers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
