Basketball Recap: Mohave Accelerated Comes Up Short

Mohave Accelerated dropped down to 13-7 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They were outmatched by the North Valley Christian Academy Lions and fell 75-46. The Patriots lost against the Lions in their previous head to head back in January of 2025, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 71-67 score last time.

Mohave Accelerated lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jace Hoekstra, who posted nine points and eight rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 56% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Parker White, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.

As for North Valley Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points over those games.

Zathan Ruffin had an outrageously good game as he went 8-for-17 on his way to 24 points in addition to seven assists and six blocks. That's the most assists he has posted since back in January of 2025. Brayden Schmidt was another key player, shooting 86% from the field to rack up 14 points and five rebounds.

Mohave Accelerated didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-54 win against Northland Prep Academy on the 17th. As for North Valley Christian Academy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 64-54 victory against Arizona Lutheran Academy on the 20th.
