Baseball Game Preview: St. Monica Mariners vs. Troy Warriors

The St. Monica Mariners are taking a road trip to take on the Troy Warriors at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. St. Monica will be strutting in after a victory while Troy will be coming in after a loss.

On Tuesday, St. Monica was able to grind out a solid win over Westchester, taking the game 7-2. The Mariners haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

St. Monica let Logan Meyer and Kevin Bautista run wild. Meyer went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Bautista went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Meyer a new career-high. Mikey Estevez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

St. Monica was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Sonora hit Troy with a four-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors came up short against the Raiders, falling 9-2. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

St. Monica's win bumped their record up to 4-9-1. As for Troy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
