Recap: West Charlotte Lions vs. North Mecklenburg Vikings
The West Charlotte Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by North Mecklenburg at home and fell 87-59. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Charlotte in their matchups with North Mecklenburg: they've now lost nine in a row.
Defeat or not, West Charlotte got some senior leadership from Damani Day and Brandon Blakeney. Day scored 14 points, while Blakeney. scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of James Cherry, who scored five points.
West Charlotte's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-9. As for North Mecklenburg, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.
West Charlotte won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Kings Mountain at 12:30 p.m. on January 20th. Kings Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. North Mecklenburg's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hough at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hough will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 325th, while North Mecklenburg is ranked 13th).
