Basketball Recap: Waterloo's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Waterloo had lost three straight headed into Monday's match, but Alex Stell didn't let it get to four. The Waterloo Bulldogs put the hurt on the Metro-East Lutheran Knights with a sharp 66-43 victory on Monday thanks in part to Stell, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Waterloo's points.

Another player making a difference was Tyler Devilder, who posted 11 points and four steals. Those four steals gave him a new career-high.

Defeat or not, Metro-East Lutheran got some senior leadership from Thijson Heard and Junior Brown. Heard went 6 for 13 en route to 16 points, while Brown put up nine points. The contest was Heard's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Skelton, who scored two points.

Waterloo's win bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Metro-East Lutheran, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.

Waterloo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 43-39 victory against Nashville on the 24th. As for Metro-East Lutheran, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-30 loss against Mater Dei on the 22nd.
