Softball Recap: Fort Meade Victorious

Fort Meade won the last time they faced Mulberry and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Fort Meade Miners came out on top against the Mulberry Panthers by a score of 7-2.

Ariel Ramirez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs allowed (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makayla Deleon, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Deleon is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stole at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Cailynn Johnson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Fort Meade hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mulberry struck out 12 times.

Fort Meade now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Mulberry, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Fort Meade will head out to take on Hardee at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fort Meade is facing Hardee at the right time seeing as Hardee is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Mulberry, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Region at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
