Softball Recap: Avella Comes Up Short

Avella was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 9-3 to the Mapletown Maples. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 8-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Haleigh Rush made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Ginny Smith also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Avella's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Mapletown, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Avella is set to square off against their familiar foe West Greene at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Mapletown will challenge rival Bethlehem Center at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
