Baseball Recap: Joaquin Has No Trouble Against San Augustine

Joaquin had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt San Augustine on Friday. Joaquin was the clear victor by a 17-5 margin over San Augustine. With that win, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Hunter Kay and Brennan Kilpatrick made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Kay tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Kilpatrick pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February. At bat, Kay went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Kilpatrick scored a run while going 1-for-1. Those two RBI gave Kay a new career-high.

In other batting news, Duncan McCann was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Justyn Brown also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Joaquin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Joaquin's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for San Augustine, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coincidentally, Joaquin and San Augustine will both be playing Shelbyville the next time they take the field. Joaquin will host Shelbyville at 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, while San Augustine will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
