Baseball Recap: Westlake Turns Things Around After Road Loss

Westlake's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Steele on Saturday. The Demons skirted past the Avon Lake Shoremen 12-11. The Demons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Shoremen, too.

Sean Brouillard was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Westlake's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Jung, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Westlake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Westlake pushed their record up to 12-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Avon Lake, their record is now 13-9.

Coming up, Westlake will venture away from home to square off against Rocky River at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Avon Lake, they will host Avon at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
