Basketball Game Preview: Harrison Wildcats vs. Talawanda Brave

The Harrison Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Talawanda Brave at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Harrison will be strutting in after a win while Talawanda will be coming in after a loss.

Harrison is coming into the match on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight victories. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 52-51 win over Monroe. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 606th, while the Hornets are ranked 172nd).

Harrison's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tucker Ward, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds. Brady Lawhon was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 81 points the game before, Talawanda was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They were outmatched by Badin and fell 50-21. The match marked the Brave's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Harrison's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Talawanda, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Harrison skirted past Talawanda 53-50 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Harrison since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
