Football Game Preview: Albany Falcons vs. Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks

Two dominant backs in Kahlil Beckett and Benjamin Coryea are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Albany Falcons will face off against the Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Albany has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Saratoga Springs will arrive with three straight victories.

Things were looking good for Albany after they put the first points on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 28-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of Colonie Central. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 122nd).

Meanwhile, Saratoga Springs won against Colonie Central last Friday with 28 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Blue Streaks skirted past Guilderland 28-25. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Streaks have posted against the Flying Dutchmen since October 5, 2018.

A big part of Saratoga Springs' victory came down to the chemistry between Bobby Morris and his top target Gavin Lafrance. Morris threw for 199 yards and three touchdowns while Lafrance picked up 102 receiving yards and one TD. Those 199 passing yards gave Morris a new career-high.

Saratoga Springs' record now sits at 5-1. As for Albany, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Albany has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 204.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Saratoga Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 215.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Albany was dealt a bruising 29-0 loss at the hands of Saratoga Springs in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Falcons, David Newell (who rushed for 114 yards and one score on only 14 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
