Recap: Southern Lab Kittens vs. Avoyelles Mustangs
The Southern Lab Kittens had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They breezed by Avoyelles on the road to the tune of 50-8. The result was nothing new for Southern Lab, who have now won five matches by 25 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southern Lab to victory, but perhaps none more so than Armariyan Asberry, who rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Asberry's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Southern Lab also got help from Marquez Williams who showed off his sure hands for 109 receiving yards.
Despite the loss, Avoyelles still got an impressive performance from Zayden Williams, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown.
Southern Lab's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.3 points per game. As for Avoyelles, they have fallen quite a ways from their 9-4 record last season and are now at 1-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Lab will challenge Kentwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (Kentwood is ranked 75th, while Southern Lab is ranked 57th). As for Avoyelles, they will head out on the road to face off against Rosepine at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th.
