Baseball Recap: White Knoll Comes Up Short

White Knoll fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Cardinal Newman on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 13-12. The Timberwolves just can't catch a break and have now endured ten losses in a row.

Dillon Woods stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-6 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Chance Culley was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

White Knoll's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Cardinal Newman, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

White Knoll and Cardinal Newman could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. The Timberwolves (ranked 127th) will meet Lexington (ranked 22nd) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman will challenge Miller School of Albemarle at 11:00 a.m. on the 14th with a big rank disadvantage (84 vs. 9).
