Softball Recap: Irvington Preparatory Academy Takes a Loss

Irvington Preparatory Academy extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-10 in the process. They lost 15-6 to the Herron Achaeans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Irvington Preparatory Academy of the 15-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Emma Eaton and Tierra Millbrook stepped up to the plate in a big way. Eaton went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Millbrook went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double was Eaton's first of the season.

As for Herron, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-11. Considering they have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Herron's side, Jordyn Ault spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Herron let Elena Newsom and Kayla Page run wild. Newsom went 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one double, while Page went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Page has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Myonna Kaufman, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Irvington Preparatory Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Herron, they will square off against Indianapolis Shortridge at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.85 runs per game on average), something the Achaeans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
