Baseball Recap: Plainfield Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ben Davis

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plainfield). They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Ben Davis Giants on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Quakers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Ryan Garver looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Alex Holsclaw was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Gavin Lykins was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Plainfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Plainfield now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Ben Davis, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Coming up, Plainfield will be playing at home against Mooresville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pioneers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Quakers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ben Davis, they will take on North Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Giants' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
